SphygmoCor CP

The Global Gold Standard in Non-invasive Central Blood Pressure Assessment
The SphygmoCor CP system is a lightweight, portable device used to non-invasively obtain important vital cardiovascular
data that cannot be obtained with traditional brachial cuff blood pressure measurements. Used in research, patient care,
and in pharmaceutical clinical trials worldwide, SphygmoCor CP allows clinicians and researchers to measure the pressures
the heart, brain and kidneys actually experience.
SphygmoCor assessments are fast and simple to administer, painless and comfortable for patients. Using a tonometer,
clinicians gently press against the pulse in the radial artery to acquire the radial pulse wave. The SphygmoCor system’s
proprietary algorithm derives the pulse wave as it exists in the ascending aorta, producing a wealth of important cardiovascular data.
Key SphygmoCor CP parameters, derived from the waveform at the ascending aorta include:
- Ascending Aortic Blood Pressure
- Aortic Pulse Pressure
- Aortic Augmentation Index, a measure of arterial stiffness
- Ejection Duration
- Subendocardial Viability Ratio, a ratio of cardiac supply and demand
The SphygmoCor CP system is used clinically in risk stratification, diagnosis and drug therapy management. It allows
clinicians to assess effects of drug therapy and lifestyle changes that cannot be detected with standard brachial cuff blood pressure measurements.
In clinical trials, the system is used to assess the effects of compounds on central blood pressure and arterial stiffness.
The SphygmoCor CP system has been featured in hundreds of published studies and is used in leading physician practices and
medical centres worldwide and in pharmaceutical and device clinical trials.
